Helping clients to take their businesses global is an increased focus for accounting and consulting firm MarksNelson. “Many of our clients are looking outside of US borders to expand the market for their products and services. Often they don’t understand the tax ramifications of doing business in another country so we see this as an opportunity to bring specific expertise to help them, “explains Dennis Nelson, CPA, Tax Partner.
MarksNelson is the only Kansas City firm member of The Leading Edge Alliance, the second largest international alliance of accounting firms worldwide. “Being a member of The Leading Edge provides us with an extensive network of firms in just about every country,” says Nelson.
Tax Manager Sara Stubler, CPA, recently returned from the 2012 LEA International conference, held in Amsterdam, where attendees from 30 countries and 60 firms attended sessions on topics on including the Obama administration’s tax proposals and their potential impact upon US companies; current tax issues in Europe, including recent changes to tax treaties; and Value Added Tax (VAT). Amsterdam is also home to the world’s largest tax library which proved to be an interesting tour for Stubler and the conference attendees.
