Kansas Training Credits

Kansas Industrial Training (KIT)

This credit applies to businesses creating jobs and training employees. The KIT program can include pre-employment training, classroom training, or on-the-job training from instructors or vendors.

Eligible expenses include instructor salaries, planning, and development of curriculum, materials, textbooks, and equipment.

To qualify for KIT companies must create at least one new position with an average wage equal to or above the median county wage.

Kansas Industrial Retraining (KIR)

This credit is a job retention tool which benefits employees of restructuring companies who are in danger of losing their jobs as a result of inadequate job skills or knowledge.

Eligible expenses include instructor salaries, planning, and development of curriculum, materials, textbooks, and equipment. 

Eligibility requirements:

  • Restructuring through new technology, diversifying production, and or developing/implementing new production activities
  • Retraining at least one employee with an average wage equal to or above the median county wage
  • Be either a manufacturer or able to document that most of its sales are to Kansas manufacturers and/or out of state businesses or government agencies
  • A headquarter or back-office operation of a national or multi-national corporation
