KC loves its sports teams. In addition to the 2015 World Champion Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs and Sporting KC, our community is also home to some of the best NASCAR races of the season. We have a well-earned reputation as the most loyal and loudest fans in the country … who know how to tailgate. If you’re not into pro sports, we are just a few hours away from Big 12 action at KU and K-State and the SEC world at Mizzou!
We’re not just BBQ (although we do a pretty awesome job at that), Kansas City is emerging as one of the best independent restaurant and craft cocktail hubs in the nation. From authentic Italian in Brookside, amazing Mexican and tapas food on the Westside, to steak and fine dining from the Crossroads to the Plaza, you’ll find it all in KC.
Though Kansas City metro area is wide-spread, we boast one of the shortest times spent in traffic in the country. Getting to work is typically a smooth ride thanks to multiple routes and a solid highway and interstate system.
Like to try something new that’s old? Kansas City is home to Boulevard Brewery, and features a host of small batch craft brewers and distilleries, some use recipes that date back to the days of flappers and speakeasies.
You can find great theatre, museums, music and art on every corner of Kansas City. It’s said we have more fountains than Paris. Live theater abounds here, as does live music venues featuring jazz, rock, blues and more. And our arts scene has exploded into one of the best in the country, anchored by the incredible Nelson Atkins Museum of Art with its world-renowned Bloch Building.
What can we say? KC was the first city in the country to get Google Fiber, and many organizations chose to locate here for just that reason. The KC Streetcar launched in 2016 and connects River Market to Union Station, and features Smart City Kiosks (picture a giant smartphone) at every stop to tell you where to eat, things to see and do, and when the next train will arrive.
