MarksNelson is committed to making a difference in our community. As part of our award-winning Marks of Kindness program, we developed a holiday campaign to help the homeless living in downtown Kansas City.
During a week-long donation drive, staff members brought in hats, scarves, and gloves which were then placed on our holiday tree in the lobby instead of traditional decorations. Over 400 items in all were collected, filling not only the tree but two boxes next to it as well.
On the Wednesday before Christmas, staff members took to the street decorating light poles and trees in Washington Square Park and outside the Kansas City Public Library downtown. Attached to each item was a note reading: “The spirit of the season has found you. We hope this item keeps you wrapped in warmth all winter long.”
One woman was so thankful to get a new pair of gloves thanks to ‘Wrapped in Warmth”. She said her previous pair was stolen at a mission the night before.
