Kansas City’s Largest Locally-Owned Accounting Firm Sends All Employees to Four Local Charity Organizations
WHO: On Thursday, employees from MarksNelson accounting firm will set aside their calculators and spreadsheets and roll up their sleeves to participate in “Volunteer Day” with four local Kansas City charity organizations.
WHAT: In an ongoing effort to make its mark on the community, MarksNelson has organized a company-wide volunteer day event to build stronger relationships with local nonprofit organizations and promote and encourage teamwork. Employees were given a choice of four firm nonprofit partners, including:
Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City: MarksNelson volunteers will be unpacking and reorganizing items from the DSG’s recent family carnival. Work will include mailings and preparation for an upcoming conference, landscaping work, cleaning the facility and unpacking.
Jewish Family Services of Greater Kansas City: MarksNelson volunteers will assist with sorting and weighing food in the organization’s pantry, stocking the shelves with food and package boxes of food in preparation of delivery to home-bound clients.
Powell Gardens: MarksNelson volunteers will help with planting, pruning, weeding and assist with general maintenance at the gardens.
Gillis: MarksNelson volunteers will plant and weed gardens and building pathways as well as assist with planting bushes and plants including landscaping work. The volunteers might have time to spend with the Gillis children playing in the gymnasium or helping with craft activities.
