MarksNelson accounting and consulting firm shifted gears for the day to allow all its employees to participate in the annual “Volunteer Day” with eleven Kansas City nonprofit organizations. More than 130 staff members put down their calculators, turned off their computers and rolled-up their sleeves to paint, clean, make blankets, assemble health and hygiene kits as well as do yard work.
“Volunteer Day” is part of the firm’s award winning Marks of Kindness program, an internal initiative designed to bring employees together in support of community service and charitable endeavors. The goal is to make a positive impact on Kansas City, build strong relationships with area nonprofits as well as promote and encourage teamwork. MarksNelson won the 2015 IMPACT Award from the Kansas City Business Journal for the initiative as well as the We AAM to Serve award from the Association of Accounting Marketers.
MarksNelson’s Volunteer Day began in 2013 supporting four Kansas City Nonprofits. Each year the event continues to grow allowing the firm to partner with organizations staff members are passionate about.
